Padre’s Hour:  Focus on West Suffolk Hospital Chaplains

Radio Maria England is a non-commercial private initiative within the Catholic Church, which seeks to offer its listeners an opportunity to pray, to learn and to celebrate with the Church. Each day the station broadcasts the daily Church liturgy, the Mass, and the Holy Rosary. The station also provides teaching and catechesis covering faith and social issues, programmes focusing on human and social development, and news from across the world.

Radio Maria England’s ongoing programme, Padre’s Hour, has shared many testimonies of Catholics and Christians serving others.  Father Sam has spoken to organizations such as Stella Maris, Aid to the Church in Need, the Jesuit Refugee Project and smaller organizations and Parishes and shared their stories of dedication, service, and love with listeners.  Radio Maria England endeavours to share the good work done by the church in England that blessed not only our country, but the world.  On this week’s episode, Padre’s Hour producer, Helena Judd, speaks to Reverend Michael Womack and Father Mike Brookes, chaplains for the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St. Edmunds.  They share the traditional roles that chaplains have for hospitals as well as the challenges that the hospital is currently facing with the pandemic.  They share stories of support that chaplains and volunteers have given in the hospitals and remind us of the life and blessings still found in the hospital.

Father Mike Brooke’s is also the assistant Priest at Saint Edmund’s Catholic Parish in Bury St Edmunds (www.stedmundkm.org.uk).  For more details about the West Suffolk Hospital Chaplaincy, please visit https://www.wsh.nhs.uk/Services-A-Z/Chaplaincy/Chaplaincy.aspx
