Farewell from Fr Andreas Schätzle
Written by Radio Maria England on 20/06/2022
Dear listeners and friends of Radio Maria!
Today is the time to say goodbye. After 10 months as a Priest Director of Radio Maria in England, I will be returning to the Continent in the next few days.
Thank you for this journey and the intensive and good work for the Kingdom of God. I’m thankful to you for welcoming me – with my strengths and weaknesses. I am thankful for all the friendships that have formed during this time and for the so beautiful and interesting country in which I was allowed to be a guest. If I have offended anyone, I apologise. For me, too, it was a new and challenging experience to accompany a radio in this founding phase.
I am really curious and confident about how Radio Maria England will continue. With the new studio in London, with the new director Fr Toby, with new staff, listeners, volunteers and speakers, new ideas and challenges. I am so happy that Radio Maria has developed into a real Live Radio this year and that we‘re also ready with the technology to enter a new phase of communication and interactivity. Thank you to our President Charles Wilson for giving me and all of us the example of a true missionary in being open to the dynamics of the Spirit – and the dynamics of Radio Maria.
How will it continue with me? The World Family of Radio Maria has asked me to be available for three more years to support the radio in other countries; wherever support is needed. So we will stay connected. I am happy about this new challenge, but I also know how weak I am. Therefore, I ask you very much for your prayers, just as I pray for you and will certainly keep in touch.
My best wishes to you all! May God bless you and Mary keep you. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU to all my colleagues at Radio Maria, staff and volunteers, and also to Fr. Toby Lees, who will start as the new Priest Director on July 1st. God will do great things in England and in other countries through you!
