Refugees Week on Radio Maria England

The Jesuit Refugee Service states that “Understanding the challenges faced by refugees, asylum seekers and forced migrants calls us to respond with meaningful solutions.” Refugees Week is June 20th – 26th. Radio Maria England will be taking part by broadcasting speakers that are supporting refugees in England and around the world.
Wednesday, June 15 8:30pm – CREDO – Diocese of Westminster Justice and Peace Commission. Fr. Dominic Robinson shares with listeners about the good work that the Diocese of Westminster Justice and Peace Commission are doing in the diocese. Monday, June 20 at 9am – Mornings with Radio Maria – World Refugee Day – Rhiannon Prideaux, Emergency Response Coordinator for Jesuit Refugee Services, shares with listeners how they offer practical assistance to those they accompany, responding to the individual’s needs, whether they find themselves destitute or detained under immigration rules.
Thursday, June 23 at 9:30am – Mornings with Radio Maria Special – Radio Maria will be sharing more about how our listeners can pray for refugees with Megan Knowles, Communications and Development Manager.
Friday, June 24 at 9:00am – Mornings With Radio Maria – William Neal, Detention Outreach Caseworker at JRS UK, will be sharing the work JRS does with people who are held in detention, explain why they are held, what happens during the detention time and what happens when they leave detention, and how JRS supports them.
Friday, June 24 at 11am – Questions of Faith – Fr. Dominic Robinson and Phil Kerton will be answering questions sent in from listeners. Fr. Dominic Robinson is the Jesuit Parish Priest of Farm Street, London and Chair of the Diocese of Westminster Justice and Peace Commission and ACN’s UK chaplain. Phil Kerton is a longstanding member in Southwark dioces commission of justice and peace and the integrity of creation and is director of small organization called Seeking Sanctuary that seeks to raise awareness of situation of exiles stuck in north west France and awareness of needs . They will also be sharing practical ways that the church is supporting in living out our mission as a church. Listeners are encouraged to call with their questions between 11am – 12pm at 01223 375564.
