Saint Joseph’s Day
Written by Bernice Zieba on 12/03/2020
Which great saint comes after Mary? It’s Joseph, the man who stands next to her at the crib, guarding over baby Jesus. Joseph has a very “silent” appearance in the bible. In fact, he is only mentioned a few times and never “talks”. So, what makes him so great?
Saint Joseph is the patron saint of the Church, of the dying, of families and children. But most important of all, he is the husband of Mary and the foster father of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Apart from blessed Mary, nobody on earth was so close to Jesus as was Joseph. He is a role model for fathers: he was obedient to God, hard-working and faithful to his family. Although he was in care of Jesus, God’s son, he stayed modest, quiet and humble.
St Joseph’s feast day is on March 19th.
Saint Joseph, pray for us!
