Simon John’s next programme in his eye-opening series Set the Downtrodden Free, featured in Just Life, is on the car-wash industry. Do you think slaves are something that belong in the past, hundreds of years ago? Did you know that there are more slaves now than in the past? Slavery is happening on our own streets, in front of our own eyes. Find out how to spot it and importantly, what you can do about it and how you can make a difference. If you have any concerns about modern slavery, please ring the Modern Slavery Helpline number 08000 121 700
Listen in to this episode of Just Life on Tuesday 28th February at 10am. Rebroadcast the same day at 10pm and on Saturday March 4th at 11am. This programme will also be available as a podcast.
Simon John is a retired solicitor from Thetford in Norfolk, who specialised in claims in the UK and abroad on the part of catastrophically injured people including scores of children with cerebral palsy. He is lifelong human rights activist and has been in Rotary International for nearly 50 years – he is a member of the new single cause international Rotary e-club ‘End Human Trafficking’. Simon’s interest in human rights led to a deeper awareness and interest in modern slavery. He is also a busy husband, father and grandfather.
