Mgr. Tony Rogers

Mgr Tony Rogers was born in Bournemouth in 1947. Eldest of three children. Educated by De la Salle Brothers (Bournemouth) and Marist Fathers (Exeter).  He trained to be a priest at Oscott College, Birmingham. He was ordained in 1971 for the Diocese of Northampton and was automatically transferred to the Diocese of East Anglia when it was established in 1976.  His past appointments has been as the assistant priest at Northampton Cathedral from 1971-1974, assistant priest at Our Lady of English Martyrs (OLEM) in Cambridge from 1974-1978, parish priest at St Philip Howard, Cambridge from 1978-1983, parish priest at St George, Norwich from 1983-1989, parish priest in Newmarket from 1989-1994, returning to Our Lady of English Martyrs (OLEM) from 1994 – 2010.  He then became Vicar General of the Diocese of East Anglia from 2001-2011 and also the Diocesan Administrator from 2001- 2003.  In 2010, Mgr. Tony took a sabbatical leave to complete his masters degree at Heythrop College, University of London.

Currently, Mgr. Tony is the parish priest at Our Lady & St Peter, Aldeburgh since 2012.

Outside appointments have included membership of Pastoral Liturgy of Bishop’s Conference of England and Wales, Member of Churches’ Funeral Group, Counsellor with Marriage Care, and the RC Advisor to Anglia TV.  He has also worked in hospitals and with prison chaplaincy.

Mgr. Tony’s interests are cooking, reading and travel.
