The Rosary in Music
Written by Radio Maria England on 02/10/2020
Presented by Dr Matthew Ward, and in this month of the Holy Rosary, he will be bringing you the first in a five part series looking at music chosen to help us meditate on the life of Mary and of course that of her Divine Son. He’ll be introducing all sorts of music, choral and instrumental, written by composers inspired by our Blessed Mother, and by the mysteries of our salvation in the Rosary. The Programme is 30 minutes long.
Dr Matthew Ward is Director of Music at Mayfield School and a director of various choirs including the Stonegate Choir and the Schola Corneliae as well as being a regional director of the Schola Gregoriana of Cambridge. He has previously taught at the University of Cambridge and at St Mary’s University, Twickenham. In demand as a speaker on topics in Medieval music and music and theology, Matthew regularly runs workshops on Latin chant around the UK. He has published on the music of Sir James MacMillan, and is producing an edition of twelfth-century chant from St Albans Abbey for the Early English Church Music series.
